CURA has a powerful capability (and a free one) to link and update automatically media/photos that are in or are added to albums or your favorites (via your phone) in Google Photos. This includes “Smart Albums” and “Shared Albums”. In Cura you will view and select the albums you have in Google Photos and link them to a CURA collection. (If you are an Apple iOS user and don’t currently use Google Photos read this article to see how you can still use this feature).
Why is this so useful? As you can assign collections to a CURA display or room with multiple displays in it, you can set this up to display your “favorites” that you “like”. On large screens around your home.
Or you could use Google Photos to create a smart album containing your baby/kid or pet photos and get them to display on a screen in your home or even a screen in your parents’ or other family homes. BTW if you remove images/videos etc. CURA will also automatically remove them from the display(s).
Use cases:
-
Viewing multiple images around you from your phones (iPhones or Android phone) on to TVS or other screens
-
Have your phone (iPhone or Android) “like/favorites” automatically appear on your TV or other CURA display.
-
Using Smart Albums to auto select pictures of your kids to their grandparent’s tablet CURA display.
-
Sharing and viewing close family or fields images /videos
How do you do it:
Here are some images and videos that show you the steps to link your Google Photos account so that your media can be used and displayed on your CURA displays.
Notes:
- You do need to select/check and then save and sync your settings in stage 5
- Currently we have an issue in the delay between steps 5 and 6 and can take up to an hour for this to first sync and appear. We do have a much quicker solution that also shows process in the works. You may leave the page and return to CURA later to see the results and the use this media.
