Common Questions
Account & Subscription
How do I upgrade or downgrade my plan? Go to Settings in the CURA app → Subscription → Manage. You can change plans anytime.
How do I manage my connected accounts (Flickr, Google Photos)? Go to Subscription → Linked Accounts tab. This takes you to Media Sources where you can connect or disconnect Flickr, Google Photos, and other services.
What happens when my trial ends? After 30 days, you can subscribe to HOME ($5.99/mo) or continue on FREE. FREE gives you 1 display and 200 images – Flickr Explore and CURA Gallery stay free forever.
How do I cancel? Settings → Subscription → Cancel. No cancellation fees, effective at end of billing period.
Displays & Devices
Why won’t my display connect?
- Check WiFi connection on the display
- Make sure you’re signed into the same CURA account
- Try refreshing – pull down on the display list in the app
- Restart the display app
Can I use CURA on multiple TVs? Yes! Your subscription covers multiple displays. FREE includes 1 display, HOME includes 3, HOME+ includes 5, PRO includes 10. Add more displays for $4-5/mo each. NOTE: Phones registered to CURA for sync, uploading and mini display purposes do not count towards your display allowences.
My TV won’t auto-start CURA Auto-start works on Fire TV and Android TV only. For other platforms, use smart home voice commands or manually launch.
Content & Photos
How do I add my photos?
- Upload: Use the CURA mobile app or web interface to upload
- Phone sync: Settings → Phone Albums (iOS syncs iCloud albums, Android syncs local albums)
- Flickr: Connect your account to display your photostream, albums, and favorites
Why aren’t my photos showing?
- Check that photos are in an active collection
- Verify the collection is assigned to your display/room
- Check image limits – you may have reached your tier’s limit
- Refresh the display
What file formats are supported? JPEG, PNG, and most common image formats. Video is supported on all native CURA apps (Fire TV, Roku, Apple TV, Android TV, tablets).
What’s the image size limit? We recommend images under 20MB. Very large files may take longer to process.
Flickr Integration
Do I need a Flickr account? Yes, a free Flickr account is required to use Flickr features including Explore, Groups, and syncing your own photos.
What’s Fave-From-Remote? When viewing Flickr photos on your display, press the “favorite” button on your TV remote. The photo is saved to your Flickr favorites – no phone needed.
Can I use Flickr Groups? Flickr Groups are available on HOME (3 groups) and HOME+/PRO (unlimited). Groups let you subscribe to community-curated photography collections.
Troubleshooting
Display Won’t Connect
- Check WiFi – Display and phone must be on same network
- Restart display app – Close and reopen CURA on the TV
- Sign out and back in – On both the display and mobile app
- Check for updates – Update CURA app to latest version
Photos Not Loading
- Check internet – Displays need active WiFi
- Wait for sync – Large libraries may take time to index
- Check collection – Make sure photos are in an assigned collection
- Check limits – Verify you haven’t exceeded image limits
Poor Image Quality
- Check source – Low-resolution source = low-resolution display
- Check display settings – Some TVs have picture modes that affect quality
- Upload higher resolution – CURA streams at full resolution
Auto-Start Not Working
| Platform | Supported | How to Enable |
|---|---|---|
| Fire TV / Fire Stick | Yes | Enable in CURA Display settings |
| Android TV / Google TV | Yes | Enable in CURA Display settings |
| Fire Tablets | Yes | Enable in CURA Display settings |
| Roku | No | Must launch manually or use voice: “Hey Roku, launch CURA” |
| Apple TV | No | Use Siri or Apple Home automations |
Tip: For platforms without auto-start, combine a smart plug ($10-15) with voice control or manual launch for a semi-automated setup. The smart plug handles power on/off scheduling.

Google Photos Publishing Issues
Having trouble with Chromecast, Nixplay, or other Google Photos displays?
See the full Google Photos Setup Guide →
Common fixes:
- Chromecast shows random photos: Set “Personal photo curation” to “Live Albums only” in Google Home
- Album is empty: Reconnect Google Photos via Subscription → Linked Accounts
- Frame not updating: Use Batch mode with duration matching your device’s polling interval
