Frequently Asked Questions
How does the image limit work?
Your image allowance scales with your displays. You get a base amount plus bonus images for each display. For example, HOME gives you 600 base + 300 per display. With 3 displays, that’s 1,500 images. Add a 4th display and you get 1,800 images.
What counts against my image limit?
Your uploads, Flickr photos (photostream, albums, favorites, following), and Flickr Explore all count toward your limit. CURA Gallery does not count – it’s our gift to you at every tier.
Can I use CURA on any TV?
Yes! CURA works on Roku, Amazon Fire TV, Apple TV, Android TV, Google TV, Samsung Smart TVs, and tablets. On 2022+ Samsung TVs (Tizen 6.5+), CURA runs natively – no streaming stick needed. Currently in beta. Plus you can manage everything from up to 4 phones per account – phones don’t count against your display limit. One subscription covers all your devices.
How many phones can I connect? Are phones really free?
Up to 4 phones per CURA account, free on every plan including FREE. Phones don’t count against your display limit. You can use them to: sync photos from camera roll or iCloud, control your CURA displays from anywhere (at any location), or as a mini display (kitchen counter, nightstand).
What is Room Sync Mode? Can a “room” span multiple locations?
Yes. In CURA, a “room” is a logical grouping of displays – not just one physical space. Group displays however makes sense: all TVs in one open-plan living area; every lobby display across 4 retail stores; or just the displays in one meeting room. Displays in the same room can move together with ordered playback (tell a story across displays) or random playback (classic shuffle). CURA also auto-handles landscape vs portrait displays in the same room. Available on all plans – the value scales naturally with how many displays you’re running.
Does CURA work with Alexa, Google Home, or SmartThings?
Yes, all three. Our SmartThings integration (beta) is a two-way bridge: you can trigger CURA from SmartThings routines (arrive home → displays light up; “Movie Night” → TV on + CURA in cinema mode), and CURA can power your Samsung TVs on/off on schedule. Because SmartThings connects to Amazon Alexa, Google Home, and Samsung Bixby, you can voice-control CURA on any display through any of those assistants. Siri also works via Apple Home shortcuts.
What happens when my trial ends?
After 30 days, you can subscribe to HOME ($5.99/mo) or continue free. FREE gives you 1 display and 200 images – plus Flickr Explore and CURA Gallery stay free forever.
Do I need a Flickr account?
A free Flickr account is needed for Flickr features. Once connected, you get Flickr Explore (curated photography updated daily) plus your own photos, favorites, and following feed.
I have a Nixplay frame / Roku Backdrops / Nest Hub – does CURA work with those?
Yes! CURA can push content to a Google Photos album, and those devices can display from that album. This means CURA can manage content on devices that aren’t even running CURA – one app to control all your displays.
Does CURA support video?
Yes! Video playback works on all native CURA apps (Fire TV, Android TV, Apple TV, Roku, tablets). Note: Video is not supported when using Google Photos publishing to Chromecast screensavers or similar devices.
Can I cancel anytime?
Yes, cancel anytime. No contracts, no cancellation fees.
