You are able to leverage all the capabilities of CURA as a PC,MAC, Apple iOS/iPhone or Samsung/Android user, the application itself works well on iOS devices (as well as any other). Currently we do not have a direct linkage on the back end to iCloud (and probably where some of you photos are) but we do have a indirect workaround using Google photos that is quite easy to setup. Please review the notes below for both answers.
CURA™ Application on iOS or Android, PC or MAC
Well, the great news is that the main CURA™ app does work well on IOS and Android devices, its built as what is called a “progressive web application”. Simply go to https://curapp.io in your phone browser. You will be prompted to install CURA as a web application, and it will appear in a similar way as native app. or make a home page short cut and locate the CURA icon your home screen. It should look something like the one at the bottom of this article . See this video that shows you how.
When you open the shortcut – it will open the CURA™ app – You can create a new Cura account using any email address that you have access to email. (It does not have to be a Gmail account).
After you have logged in once it should save your login credentials so it you will have access to the same application (formatted for mobile) as per using it on a PC, iMac, iPad etc.
Creating a Google Photos account that will work with CURA™
You do need a Google Photos account to work with CURA for the free CURA-Home edition,(its not necessary, but recommended for CURA Home + and above). If you don’t already have a Google account its very easy and free to create one. Although most people create a [email protected] account, to leverage other Google services such as email etc. you can actually create an account with any email address. Go to https://photos.google.com/ and create an account for free (at least free for the first 15GB of storage). Use your current email and phone number as password recovery and 2 factor authentication methods. Google does take your security and privacy very seriously. (We, our company and our applications had to go through quite an extensive verification process with Google to ensure we would also abide by their security and privacy standards and policies)
There are 2 to 3 areas where you will need this Google account when working with CURA.
- When you have a CURA account and login, under Media Sources you will use this Google Photos to link with CURA. You, will then be able to either upload images directly from the CURA media uploader (from your phone or any browser) or Sync images using albums that either already exist in your Google photos account (see below) or albums that others have shared to you via your Google Photos account. (Really useful).
- If you are using the preferred CURA™ Android TV/Display application, you can use this Google account (you actually could use any Google account) to register your TV or device to get the free CURA™ Android TV/Display application from the Google Play Store. (just search for “cura” on the device UI). After installation you will be asked to register this display device with your “CURA” account.
- If you want to automatically send all or some of your photos on your iPhone to CURA , you can install the Google Photos application for iOS on your iPhone, iPad, iMac. Use the account above and it will sync all or selected folder/albums up to your Google photos account and hence make them accessible to CURA.
