How to Get Your Photos onto CURA Displays
There are several ways to get your photos displaying on CURA. Choose the method that works best for you.
Option 1: Flickr (Recommended)
The easiest way to get beautiful content on your displays instantly.
Flickr Explore (Instant – No Upload Needed)
- Connect a free Flickr account via Subscription → Linked Accounts
- Enable Flickr Explore in your collection settings
- Museum-quality photography appears immediately – updated daily
Your Flickr Photos
If you already use Flickr:
- Connect your Flickr account via Subscription → Linked Accounts
- Your photostream, albums, and favorites sync automatically
- Subscribe to Flickr Groups for community-curated content (HOME tier: 3 groups, HOME+/PRO: unlimited)
Why Flickr? It’s the only major photo service with full API support for apps like CURA. Your photos, your metadata, your control.
Option 2: Direct Upload
Upload photos directly from your phone, tablet, or computer.
From Your Phone
- Open CURA at https://curapp.io on your phone
- Go to Media → Upload
- Select photos from your camera roll
- Choose or create a collection
- Tap Upload
From Your Computer
- Go to https://curapp.io in your browser
- Go to Media → Upload
- Drag and drop photos or click to browse
- Assign to a collection and upload
Tip: This is the most reliable method for getting specific photos onto your displays quickly.
Option 3: Phone Album Sync
Sync albums directly from your phone’s local storage. After downloading and installing the CURA Display app on your phone or tablet, launch the app and register it as a display to your CURA account. On the main menu there will be a button for UPLOAD MEDIA or UPLOAD/SYNC ALBUM. Choose SYNC ALBUM
Android
- In CURA app, go to Menu → Sync Albums
- Select which local albums to sync
- Photos sync automatically when on WiFi
iPhone/iPad
- In CURA app, go to Menu→ Sync Albums
- Select iCloud albums to sync
- Photos from selected albums appear in CURA
To update -(either if media is added or removed from these albums) just open this again , your previous sync albums will be pre-selected ) and press SYNC.
Option 4: Google Photos (Limited)
Note: Due to Google API changes in 2025, automatic sync from Google Photos albums is no longer available. However, you can still get your Google Photos content to CURA:
Android Photo Picker (Android 14+)
- In CURA, tap Upload
- The photo picker shows your Google Photos cloud content
- Select photos and they upload to CURA
Download and Re-upload
- Go to photos.google.com on your computer
- Select photos or albums → Download
- Upload the downloaded photos to CURA via the web uploader

- Start with Flickr Explore while you set up your own photos – instant content, no work required
- Mix sources – combine your photos with Flickr Explore for variety
- Use collections – organize photos by theme, event, or audience
- Check orientation – CURA automatically matches photos to display orientation (portrait/landscape)
